Lotus Notes Application Development

Below are examples of applications that consultants now working for Forthright have designed, developed, implemented and supported:

SAP Web Project Manager Developed and implemented an interactive web site allowing three companies to collaborate on a SAP migration project.
The web site included an issue management section and a document review section secured with user names and passwords.
Executive Home Page Worked as the lead developer. The application provides an overview of business information in a graphical format and allows users to identify and navigate information quickly and easily.
Job Market Developed the logical design and supported an internal job posting system. It allows intranet web users to apply for jobs and utilizes workflow in Notes to collect and forward information to appropriate managers.
Company Phone Directory Developed a Domino intranet site for a company phone directory. The application uses a customized search form combined with views, thus simplifying searchers for users.

Tracking System Developed a global Domino intranet application for tracking new product development, which required LotusScript for financial analysis and roll-up.
Room Reservation system

Implemented a customized version of the R4.5 Resource Reservation template. Provided project management for a client working with Lotus Professional Services. The application integrated into the corporate Name & Address book, allowing users to schedule rooms from the mail template. Agents were added to archive and track usage of rooms. Intranet access was made available allowing users to search for room availability and confirm reservations.

Team Repository This database combined several templates and was used as a standard for most new teams requiring a collaborative application. This template was rolled out to over thirty teams

Domino Server Architecture
The following summarizes Forthright’s experience and exposure to the Lotus Notes infrastructure and server architecture:

q

R5 implementation Forthright consultant led a team of 4 consultants working to convert 25+ form based applications into a new Domino R5 Domain. In addition, Forthright served as a technical advisor to client for a R5 Notes email conversion & implementation. The client was working with a large outsourcing partner to migrate and rollout 4,800 new R5 clients, and convert 700 R4 clients to a new Domain. Forthright served as the clients ‘technical sounding’ board for working with the outsourcing partner, reviewing server implementation, mail topology, and directory synchronization.
R4.5 Calendaring & Scheduling Deployment Forthright completed a project involving the joint efforts of Lotus Development Corporation, and a Fortune 500 company, to implement a global conference room scheduling application. This project involved capacity planning and server testing for R4.5 calendaring and scheduling server tasks. The application was modified by Lotus to include additional functionality promised in the R5 release of Lotus Notes. Forthright served as the project manager, responsible for the implementation and rollout within the North America region of the company.

Designing a Notes Infrastructure Working with a major chemical company, he served as the application representative to a global team responsible for architecting the infrastructure of a 30,000 Lotus Notes seats rollout. This project involved: cross-Domain certification, external Domain replication, group naming standards, cascading address books, and Intranet Domino security and http password registration.

Administration of multi-version Notes Environment For the past 18 months, Forthright has worked with a client to manage a team that supports global applications within a mixed Lotus Notes environment. This client has numerous remote servers operating various versions of Lotus Notes software. This unique experience has provided Forthright the opportunity to enhance his technical skills for developing and supporting applications that can run across multiple versions of Lotus Notes, in a large distributed environment.
Server Consolidation

While working with a global investment firm, Forthright was responsible for leading a client team in the consolidation of Lotus Notes R3 E-mail servers. The project included creating an automated mail move email, thus minimizing the impact on users email availability. The company realized a direct cost saving, by reducing the number of servers dedicated to Lotus Notes support.
